GST Information
How GST works for pharmacy purchases via Lowpill.
1. Overview
GST on medicines is charged by the pharmacy, not by Lowpill. Lowpill is a price-comparison platform — we don't sell goods, so we don't charge GST on your medicine purchase.
2. Typical GST Rates on Medicines
- Essential / life-saving drugs: 5% GST (most prescription medicines).
- Standard medicines and most pharmacy items: 12% GST.
- Some health supplements and OTC items: 18% GST.
- Specific tax rates change with GST Council notifications — check the pharmacy invoice for the applicable rate.
3. Where to Find Your Tax Invoice
- The pharmacy issues a tax invoice in your name.
- Usually available on the pharmacy order page or in the order confirmation email.
- Includes pharmacy's GSTIN, line items, GST rate per item and total.
- Required for input tax credit if you are a registered business.
4. Business / B2B Purchases
- Provide your GSTIN to the pharmacy at checkout.
- Pharmacy issues a GST-compliant invoice.
- Eligible for input tax credit per GST rules.
- Lowpill does not handle B2B billing — work directly with the pharmacy.
5. Lowpill's Own GST Treatment
- Lowpill earns commission from pharmacy partners; that is a B2B transaction between Lowpill and the pharmacy.
- Lowpill issues GST-compliant invoices to its pharmacy partners.
- You, as a consumer, are not invoiced by Lowpill.
- No GST is added to your medicine purchase by Lowpill.
